Hi. I'm Matt May.
I've spent over 25 years working on inclusion and equity in tech. Now I help others navigate workplaces where everything feels stacked against them. (And some other stuff. I like my free time.)
About me
I got my start in web design in 1996, working on sites like USA Hockey. I learned about web accessibility a couple years later, and spent most of my career working on it, as an engineer, standardista, program manager, product manager, and finally a principal designer. I retired from for-profit tech at the end of 2024.
I'm an ordained Buddhist minister, currently serving as a minister's assistant at a temple in Seattle. I have a masters in inclusive design from OCAD University in Toronto. I'm a fan of Liverpool FC, the Boston Red Sox, and the Seattle Kraken, for all the good it does me.
What I can do for you
I work with people who want to do good in technical roles, but struggle with finding work, the stress involved, and the burnout that often results.
I also advise companies and nonprofits on organizational strategy, particularly around inclusive design and digital equity.
